El Angel (The Angel) was built to commemorate the centennial of the beginning of Mexico’s War of Independence, celebrated in 1810. It is also a mausoleum for mexican heroes. It is located in main avenues: Reforma and Insurgentes in Mexico City.

This statue says Mexico City to me!
Yes, a beautiful icon for me with so much story!
Magnificent photos of a magnificent state, really nice with the sun shine on the Angel. Love them.
Thank you! It is a very nice piece of work!
A particularly beautiful statue – love the angel!
…mmm… Thought you didn’t like statues… I am glad you lik these!
Wow! The one who made this statue is really talented and skillful. I wish I could see personally, I bet it looks better in real life. I’m curious, is it made of gold or not?
It is covered with gold. I don’t know how deep that goes but yes, it has gold. Thank you!!!
can you climb up inside it?
Yes, and I did it! I will post those picture soon. Thank you for asking!
Gorgeous statue! The tower looks so narrow, I wouldn’t dare climb up
and it is so narrow inside the tower. When you are up, there is not really much space to go around the balcony….Thanks!
Stunning memorial! Thanks for sharing.
This is really a great photo! One of my favorite!
